Speaking of E's, I'm a little sad no one mentioned the Everly Brothers. Maybe they're too old for our generation. (Dear God, I hope not!)
I may be one of the few people who has a deep hate for both the books and the movie.
But Edward is mighty fine, even if he doesn't exist in the real world.
YUSSSSS!
FINALLY! A FELLOW HATER!!
Twilight can go burn in the depths of Hell itself.
I read the first one, and was put off.
Not that I was on in the first place.
Invisible Monsters kicks Twilights ass anyday.
Anything kicks Twilights ass anyday actually.
"no, I recieve the gifts. From EVERYONE on Valentines day."
"YOU WOULDN'T GET SHIT!"
why are we posting out iiiN5iD3R5 on here?
on that note, let's stop before everyone reads this and gets irritated and says mean things about us. I'm very sensitive and I'll cry if someone bitches me out online. fuck you in the face.
either way someone is gonna hurt your feelings since you are so fucking sensitive. you little pussy.
YOU'RE NOT A REAL MAN!
you can just suck my synthetic dick.
yeah you've heard it once and now you've heard it twice.
whether it be at shari's or on we're so blogging. all i want to do is stalk this blog and this is what i get.
just leave me alone, karenlikeslunch!
i'm justt keeddin babii gurl
Twilight sucks.
Nice one :)
It must be hard to be a writer when you can't write.
She thinks she'd a vampire. Probably hangs upside down from a tree and quotes lines from her books at passers by, waiting for the one.
And the parents are like "don't worry son, that's just stephanie meyer. She's no bother this time of year, be home before nightfall!"
I slowly lost respect for every girl I knew when those books came out.
Do people not realize that good books exist?
I love vampires since I was 3 and know because a stupid vampires film everyone loves vampires... I know I sound stupid but it distrois what I see in vampires :s
anyway, I love Dracula ^^
"E"
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Empires - Piano Song or Late Night Rendezvous
Elvis Costello - All This Useless Beauty
Elton John (a legend)- Your Song or Bitch is Back
Eagles - Seven Bridges Road or Desperado
Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight
The FILM on the other hand... good god... that turned out to be something of a disaster. I don't know if I was crying because I was laughing too hard, or crying with shame.
I personally keep my distance from the cult. A little verbal support is efficient; I don't need a jacket.
Why apologize for Elton John? He's amazing. Him and Billy Joel are just perfect. And David Bowie is made of win.
You want a good vampire movie? Interview With The Vampire won my heart. And the score was great; any score nominated to go up against The Lion King's has to be great. Hans Zimmer's a genius.
there is just one thing i dont get
"Wanna go steady?"
"oskar, im not a girl"
im not so fluent in english... sbdy explain that to me :O
still need someone to explain me the line
so...it's better when the girl is the vampire, i guess
that kinda reminded me of

"We'll be right back! Then you can see more of my booooooooobs!"
"Mikey! Have you seen Twilight!"
"No. Actually I'd rather kill and eat my whole family."
"Oh, well thats what I thought at first, but it was actually--"
"Raw."
And I'm one of those hxc hippie vegetarians. Except without the pot smoking. Not my thing.
Actually I... want to see that. It looks interesting. Great, thanks D:
Bowie. There is not even words for my love. Just. Bowie.
I believe I've given you my Ds, but I was located somewhat further down the page last time. So.
Dizzy Balloon - Young Love (Or Chinatown, actually, but Young Love seems more your thing.)
And, same band but different song from last time, The Dresden Dolls - Mandy Goes To Med School.
Again, obviously you guys already know of them but I personally have never been able to get over this song. It's a little dark and a little creepy but by far my favourite of theirs.
"How about a nine month long vacation and a two foot coffin?"
Not hard to see why I was originally a mixture of extremely afraid and completely intrigued when I first heard this one.
by the way, since the Twilight thing came up, I watched it. then my brother (who is a SUCKER for movies like that) asked me how was it, I told him "horrible, so you're gonna love it". aaaand he did love it... and he's DYING to read the book. (and he never reads, so...)
When I was in middle school, and just getting started on the insomnia thing, I read one of my mom's romance novels. It was a learning experience. O_O I found out: 1) there really are worse things in the world than boredom, 2) you can have good narrative structure and storytelling skills yet still tell a tale so pointless it makes people want to doublesmack you in the head, and 3) that books like these were what was wrong with every girl who'd read them. The world is full of enough half-truths; someone deliberately feeding their head with the entirely unworkable behavioral referents in that book was just asking for life to crush the unrealistic expectations they'd programmed in.
Yeah, Bowie kind of screwed up heteronormativity for our generation. We owe him a lot. :D
I'd have to agree with most of you. I hate Twilight.
I read the books a few years ago when they first came out, I thought they were OKAY. Edward can suck Harry Potter's dick. As soon as it got popular and the movie came out, suddenly everyone was a Twilight fan and I was like "nuh uh buddy. count me out." because that's just the type of person I am. I don't like following the crowd, it makes you a robot.
WHICH leads me to my next point...
I know everyone on here [and I guess everywhere else in the world] loves the Beatles. [I know that's going to be a choice for B] and I want to hit all the people who became Beatle fans just now.
I mean, I get it if you grew up with the Beatles, or if you listen to it now and like A LOT of their stuff, but seriously people. They weren't THAT amazing. Yes, they did start a lot in music, but there are other bands too. I hate how everyone NOW is listening to 60's music because it's the "trend" with the whole hippy style thing.
Just because you like the Beatles and wear scarves doesn't mean your a hippy.
Fuck, i've been called a hippy for 3 years! And it's not because I listen to the beatles [I don't that much, i used to a lot, but i was like screw it] and I don't wear scarves. Maybe it's because I hate the goverment and how it treats people, maybe because I rant to my friends about how the world is a better place they just need to open their eyes and accept the love that's given to them, maybe it's because I'm a vegetarian, maybe it's because I pick flowers in the summer and decorate my room with them.
It doesn't matter. What the point is, is that I hate the whole "Beatle" craze going on right now. Go listen to other music too people. Watch, in a year everyone will move on to another band, like Radiohead [don't get me wrong, i LOVE radiohead] and it will just happen over and over again.
I hate fads.
*end of rant, sorry if i pissed people off, it's how i role*
C is for...
Land of 1000 Dances - Cannibal and the Headhunters
Cool Jerk - The Capitols
and B is for...
I Fought the Law - The Bobby Fuller Four
Millstone - Brand New
Always - Blink 182 [ 5:1 ratio of getting back together this year]
Yeah, there is a lot of music out there. The thing about the Beatles is not just that they were musically fantastic, but that the were an incredible cultural force. When they played concerts they couldn't hear themselves, the screaming was so loud.
I'm not sure there's anything wrong with liking something everybody likes. Certainly, not liking something just because everybody likes it seems kind of insincere and snobbish, and I say this as someone whose overwhelming tendency is to do so. But if I like something, and it hasn't changed, why should I not just because everybody else does? I guess because I want to be different, or special. But sharing majority opinion sometimes doesn't necessarily make me an automaton or a sheep. So I try to focus on this: liking and disliking what I really like, with minimal regard for popular and unpopular opinion. It's really fun.
If it's true and the Beatles are hitting another swell in popularity, it doesn't mean nobody is listening to anyone else. You're right, in a while it'll probably die down, but there will have been more people with whom to debate which song is best, and the next generation will have heard something that really defined a certain age. I'm pretty sure people who are going through this Beatles phase haven't dropped all other musical pursuits just to listen to Rubber Soul.
And, I dunno. What makes anyone a hippy? Is it long hair? I promotion of peace and justice? Semantics aren't set in stone. We might not like the way definitions change.
That being said, I am totally one of those people less likely to see a film or buy a record if everyone else has. I'm kind of a hypocrite like that. I am trying really hard not to be, though.
By the way, you sound just like one of my best friends. (I gave her a hippie nickname, "Free Spirit.") Her rants are the best part of my day. Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your rant too.
by the way, when "Oh! I'm glad nobody knew" said something about Semantics, I laughed.
That's my friend's band's name.
Your friend's band sounds awesome. They got a purevolume or anything?
I haven't seen Twilight. I don't really desire to either.
Bowie, fabulous choice I say so.
My E is Eskimo Joe.
hah.
I will beat you.
someday......
My E is Elvis Costello.
and my D is The Doors.
lol what?
There.
oh wait. no it wouldn't. it would just look like two eyes with an umbrella over them. darn.
Oh well. Might as welll give in
*puts on a very weak, timid smile*
or just sensor yyour faces and frowns (??)
LOL
Pwnd much.
please please come to peru!
E Recs:
E is for Empires and their fabulous record Howl, which everyone can download for free at www.weareempires.com. Ahem.
Erasure-Chains of Love
Eagles of Death Metal-I Only Want You
En Vogue-Free Your Mind (This group had so many great songs. I just have a thing for this video.)
Eels-Love of the Loveless
Elefant-Misfit
Echo & The Bunnymen (Required listening.)
Exposé-Point of No Return (Yeah, I went there.)
The Eagles-Hotel California (I don’t care what anyone says, this is the best version of this song. Hands down.)
Earth, Wind & Fire-Got to Get You Into My Life (Love the cover, love the clip.)
Yeah, but seriously. E is really for Empires: Midnight Land, All Night Long (Shout out to all the folks who came to the Maxwell’s show!), I Want Blood, Hayley, and Spit the Dark.
E Film Rec: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind directed by Michel Gondry. Everyone has probably seen this, but it’s always worth another viewing.
D Recs:
The Drifters-Up on the Roof (My dad used to own an old fashioned ice cream shop and we had a jukebox. This was probably the most requested song, next to Paradise by the Dashboard Light. We may have developed righteous choreography to both. Back the to The Drifters, I was trying to find a clip of the full song, but this was the best I could find. It’s amusing, but personally, I could do without the pigeons.)
Duran Duran-Rio
DMX-Party Up
Depeche Mode-Enjoy the Silence (I’ve always dug Manson’s cover of Personal Jesus as well.)
Dixie Chicks-White Trash Wedding
Disturbed-Down with the Sickness (Saw the RBL tour in Jersey and one of the highlights of my evening was rocking out to this song with some random dude in the crowd. The breakdown in the middle was particularly memorable. Stupify is also the shizznit.)
The Ditty Bops-Wishful Thinking (This video is delightful.)
Doves-The Cedar Room
David Johansen-Looking for a Kiss (A cheat. I just forgot to put the New York Dolls on my N list.)
Diana Ross & The Supremes-Stop! In the Name of Love (Another cheat. Really, it’s just The Supremes. Frak the name change.)
The Dandy Warhols-Bohemian like you
Del Shannon-Runaway (Another jukebox favorite. Pretty kickass.)
D Film Rec: Dawn of the Dead directed by George A. Romero. Nothing beats the original.
(Again with the edits. Sorry. /o\)
Thanks for the recommendations. Shall check out the ones I haven't already.
I'm glad you liked the recs.
Also, Duran Duran and Dandy Warhols<3
And, White Trash Wedding - thankyouthankyouthankyou, god I love that song.
And ofc Bohemian Like You, god, classic Dandies. They came to Perth and played one show, 18+. I was stricken -headshake-
The harmonies in that song are so good! Ugh. And I love bands that can actually kill their song live like that.
Sorry. I remember the days of 18+ shows. So long ago. ♥
and yes, I agree with Digger. you're awesome. you have a really good taste in music and movies.
ETA: Found it. This is fantastic! Seriously, thank you so much!
Well done
<3
I've taken to throwing burnt copies of Howl at anyone who can stand still long enough to catch it. My life has taken a turn for the worse I suspect.
I approve of the DMX rec and the Dawn of the Dead film rec. The remake made me weep for humanity but I am an elitist when it comes to the originals.
Either way, I think you're a dork and I'm glad you like the recs! People have been making really awesome contributions in the other replies and I'm very excited to discover new music and some old favorites.
I do everything in my power to spread the Empires love. I can't even count how many times I have "accidentally" left a copy of Howl in someone's car. Coworkers, friends, and family members (even the ones who don't speak English very well) have had a taste of Empires. I can't wait for their next tour.
It's okay to be an elitist sometimes.
Danger Radio me thinks. They have some fantastic songs.
but yeah if you did read it/them youd giggle a few handfuls a book, finish, go do some laundry, and reference it maybe twice in your life over a good laugh, and still be perfectly content with life :)
It's good...but I wouldn't buy it on dvd.
And the dvd comes out on my birthday.
Yes, I feel so special...
Anyways, I'm not about to let this fill up with a bunch of teenies going
"ZOMG TWLIGHT?!11? I TOTES LUVVED IT!!!!!!1111"
Nice choices though. Elton John is amazing :]
the books > the movie
by about a million
E - Eve 6-Inside Out
D - Dave Melillo-Knights of the Island Counter
Is that a real movie.
If so I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT. (:
Oh and good song picks.
I personaly love the david bowie one.
E is for EISLEY- Mr Pine
theyve been around for 10 yrs and their youngest band member is 18... do they have talent? more than most people will ever have.
D is for DAVID BOWIE- Let's dance! yay we finally have one of the same one!
put on ur dancing shoes and dance the blues.... do it. id love to see your dancing shoes... or your dancing. either one would be goldenly awesome.
dont be sorry. elton john is perfecttly acceptable.... disney!
liiiiiike stevie wonder! did disney too so you can use him whenever :D
As for the song, Earlimart - Song For.
They're an undiscovered local band I saw at a gig once. I really love the mellow tone. If you ever get the time, you should check them out.
Yessss the movie was horrible...a low budget film to the t! Buttttttttt the books are AMAZING! how else do you think it became such an obsession for females between the ages of 13-40! Don't let the movie ruin the books for you!!!
As for your choices... I hope you pick billy Joel for b...and the song Allentowndedicated to the coolest Asian girl you've ever met! :)
(someone gonna totally rape me for talking up twilight...I feel it coming on! LOL)
"how else do you think it became such an obsession for females between the ages of 13-40!"
Twilight is the typical high school romance - 'good girl' falls for 'bad boy with a soft side'. Except this time instead o the bad boy being a crim who secretly likes kittens, he's a vampire that won't kill humans.
-shrug- it's built for mass adoration because it's the play-out of the average girl's fantasy.
(this coming from a girl who finished reading breaking dawn this morning ^_^' hehe...)
But Oh my goodness i loved that trailer, It really IS better. I want to see it.
David Bowie! Yay, completely unexpected!
---
My definite choice for E would have to be a band I can't stop listening to lately, I think I first heard about them around the time Pretty.Odd. came out, but I didn't start listening to them till around the summertime, I think around my birthday.
So my choice for E would Definitely Have to be Electric Light Orchestra, Because I still can't stop loving the synth-y sound of their Rock.
I'll give you three of my suggested listenings for the band, All three of which I wont link because I really dont even know how to link properly for this website :) Is it html/css/Somerandomcrazysecretcodekakisnotallowedtoknowabout?
:D Prepare for the epic! :
-Turn To stone
-Last Train to london
-ELO's cover of Edvard Grieg's 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' (Only one other cover of that song could compete with this one, im pretty sure. I am dead crazy about this song anyways, cover or not.)
Also, I'll put Evil Woman for the heck of it. I've been trying to learn the main keyboard part for it for a while now, but its way too difficult for my skill level (which is sadly low, considering I've been playing for maybe almost 4+ years now.) But I love the keyboard part to it, and I just keep trying.
Its unfortunate though that PCD ripped off one of the other cool parts to that song D;
Anyways, Happy listening!
Edit: i watched Let the right one in the other day, it was EPICally amazing. Definately better. I`m so used to watching subtitled videos, so I dont think I really noticed them. (Watching alot of anime makes you kinda forget english is even a language sometimes :D.)
E
Eurythmics- It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)
Enya- Caribbean Blue
D
Death Cab for Cutie- Grapevine Fires
and also by Death Cab for Cutie- Title and Registration
The Decemberists- Sixteen Military Wives
Duran Duran- Ordinary World
Don McLean - American Pie
- Vincent
The Doors - Riders on the storm
E is for Elephant- White Stripes
and
D is for Dancing with Myself, because everyone should.
i saw it in my english class like three months ago
the only bad thing about it is that is in sweddish or something like that xD
i hate Twilight the movie...it's really bad in comparison to the book...well, and itself...i don't like it, if i was the director, i'd be ashamed of it, seriously
Let the Right One In is too good, everything
and eli is nice^^ although she'd use Oskar for all his life =/
ooww today were 2 too =(...that sounds weird =)
Elvis! he rocks! elthon john is cool too, but only some songs to me
Dion, first time i listen to them
and David Bowie is cool too =)
Dr. Dog - The Old Days
Duran Duran - Rio
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing
E for Eric Clapton (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-g5W28jY3A)
D for The Dresden Dolls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X2rUeVdF9k)(and isn't that Ryan Ross I see in that video ;) ? ) and The Ditty Bops (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DRKzqISgrs)
And by the way, that movie looks epic.
I wonder if you actually read these =) Sure hope so.
I am still so annoyed I didn't get to see any of these shows. I love them to no end. It makes me glad that they can just be so ridiculously crazy, with their music and just as themselves.
Although if I see one more hxc goth kid copying amanda's eyebrows, someone is getting hurt. -_-
twilight failed before it started. at one point i actually considered reading it, but the fact that EVERYONE is massively obsessed with it only motivates me to hate the living shit out of it.
so hooray ryan :D
E? Eels? Eagles? Erica Badu. Eric Clapton.
D? David Bowie! YES! Heard him one too many times at the clubs in London town. He can't be missed on a night out. Never! Also, Depeche Mode. Dirty Pretty Things. Dave D, Dozy, Beaky, Mitch and Titch (there's three D's technically ;) they count!). Del Shannon.
that actually looks like a good movie.
I'ma go rent it this weekend.
haha
Ever watched True Blood?
Anyways, I saw Elton live in Semptember and he was amazing! its kind of cool that he can play the piano so well with his little sausage fingers :P
David Bowie is fun. I like 'Golden Years'.
This looks good, but disturbing.
I hella wanna see it now.
I guess this is what I will watch instead of going to Winter Ball.
I grew up listening to David Bowie and Elvis Presley. Which was really odd, considering my grade school years were spent on a very rural area in the Caribbean. But, oh well.
I can't think of David Bowie anymore without getting Bowie by Flight of the Conchords stuck in my head. Greeeaat song.
and now i'm going to look up ticket prices for that.
My favorite E band would have to be Empires. I think you know them lol seeing as your bassist is best friend with the Empires guitarist...lol I just love the man's voice. I think I would have to go with Modern Love or Hayley as my favorite!
I think D would have to be ummm does Dane Cook count? lol because he is the funniest man in my book right now...lol if he doesnt count I guess I'll go with The Doors or Duran Duran!
It looks completely amazing. Even the preview puts Twilight to shame.
-sheltered-
Haha.
And yay!! We get three today lol.
And i have actually heard all of these songs.
Im proud of myself.
:D
My E:
Eve 6- Heres to the night.
My D:
Well...i don;t have one haha.
weird... because everyone seems to like them.
About 3 days ago Elton John performed in my country... my family and I wanted to go but it would have been 18 hours by bus to get there. I would do that if Panic at the disco comes someday!
Ohh I have just realized that soon the ABC list will be finished!
I'll miss your updates Ryan.
Oh my goodness, we are nearing an end to the alphabet fast. (ADD moment).
You took two of my E's. Thank you for that one. (Sarcastic joking moment) X]
E is for EEF BARZELAY!
Eef Barzelay - Ballad of Bitter Honey
So you can thank William Beckett, in part, for the newest addition to the "musicians I am obsessed with" family. After watching the movie Rocket Science, I fell in love with it, and it's soundtrack. After doing a little research I started listening to solely the soundtrack, which is mostly written by Eef Barzelay. I chose Ballad of Bitter Honey (which is not on the soundtrack) because I love the opening lines. He doesn't seem like the kind of person you would find writing about this but he did:
"That was my ass you saw bouncing
Next to Ludacris
I was only on screen for a second
But, it's kind of hard to miss.
And all those other hoochie skanks,
They ain't got shit on me.
And one of Nelly's body guards,
He totally agrees."
Listen to the song and you will most definitely understand why it made me laugh.
E is also for Empires
(Of whom, I'm almost positive you've heard of)
Empires - Anywhere
I had to do a photography project last year, when I stumbled upon Tom Conrad's. I thought his photos where awesome. Again, digging a little deeper(after I was done with the project), I started listening to the band linked through his photography myspace. And that was pretty much the end of that. I was so excited when they went on tour of the east coast. They are INCREDIBLE live. I love it when people sound like they do in their album live. Empires definitely did that. Plus, they're some nice dudes, haha. X]
D is for Driving East
Driving East - Backseat
I'm almost positive this song has some hidden innuendo. That aside. It's one of those songs that I can just jump and dance around to. It's just fun.
D is also for DEVO!
Devo - Whip It
Perhaps I chose the most conventional Devo song ever, but I don't care. I love it. Did you know people mosh at Devo concerts? It's pretty wild. I got caught up in about ten-fifteen mosh pits when I saw them live. I was scared for my life! But it was still fun. I was really close to the stage. But what made the night that much better was when my friend, my brother, and I, got to go backstage and meet Mark Mothersbaugh. I don't like signatures so I asked if I could shake his hand. He literally shook his hand. XD
YES!!!!
i totally agree!!!! :D
YAY!
ELVIS! ELTON! DAVID BOWIE!!! =]
great song choices!
I never expected to read something about twilight on here.
But I suppose it can't be avoided.
Elvis Presley? Two surprises in one day!
Didn't think you'd choose him. :D
Also, um. Dir en grey - Bottom of the Death Valley. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baoPic0L_Qs) I really enjoy the opening.
haha
Also, why be sorry for Elton John? Never be sorry for Elton John. Though, admittedly, Bowie and Elvis are of course better.
Andandand
BOWIE
ELVIS
ELTON
DION
<3333 Oh god. So good. XD
great song choices :)
elton john came to alaska (hes one of the few people who ever come) and my dad worked spotlight for the show :)
Also, David Bowie. :')
E is also for Elliott Smith! i love all of his songs, but i especially love "Easy Way Out" http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=8A4RDAynfJ0
mmmm David Bowie. Thank you, Ross.
Moving on.
E: Gabriel - Emmy the Great. The Hynotists Son is also amazing. The version I prefer is the one that she plays faster and cuts the time length in half. (From 6:17 down to 3:19.)
E is also for Hotel California - Eagles
DEE! is for The Professor by Damien Rice.
As well as Shankill Butchers by The Decemberists
and then i saw let the right one in
and i said...oh this is ok!
Also, I watched Twilight and laughed until my stomach hurt. (Though I tried to be quiet. Which worked right up until one of the Romantic Moments, which made me cackle like a hyena. sorry, Twilight fans!) Vampire baseball! I've never read the books, though (and never will) so I'm not especially emotionally invested.
I didn't consciously make the mix until almost the end, when I went back through my iTunes to see which songs I had listened to the most, and when, to, I guess, chart my progress. And even *then* I didn't even really absorb what I had been listening to, until the year mark had passed, and I had had the mix on my iPod for a while.
She Had the World was also part of the mix, partially because never has the phrase "who can love I am out of my mind" been more appropriate, and partially because it's just really pretty and easy to sing along to while I'm working.
David Bowie and Elton John? amazing! They're my favourites.
D is also for, Danny Wilde & The Dandy Warhols
E-Eric Clapton :)
runaround sue and lonely teenager are two of my other favorites. the wanderer is really good too, though. absolutely fabulous choice.
=)
I never knew who that was by! But I've heard it so many times, that's such a good song.
So it's like, two ranges of Vampire movies.
This one seems really goof though :D
i knew you would pick david bowie but i mean, who wouldnt.
anyways how are you?
You guys should go onto that OMGZitsPANIC email thing again, because i totally sent an...important email to it.
PS: Elton John wins!
and oh I remember seeing this trailer on Pete's blog. It looks really good.
Why're you saying sorry for Elton John? the guy's amazing! I was at Hershey Park once and I heard Benny and the Jets playing on those sidewalk things and I started singing along and omg so much fun. and ahaha, David Bowie. all that does is remind me of Labyrynth. this will forever be one of my favorite things ever.
I pick Eisley, The Early November, and The Everybodyfields for E. D is for The Decemberists (Sososoooo good. If you don't know who they are, seriously check them out) and Dear and the Headlights. and okay, I'll throw in Dinosaur Jr. too.
there's no "-RR" this time. weird how I noticed that.
HAHA YOU KNOW ABOUT TWILIGHT OH MY GOSH -dies-
HAVE. YOU. SEEN. THE. FILM? No, really, have you, lol?
I need to see Let the Right One In. Not really into foreign films, but I've heard good things.
Twilight will always be ashamed of itself. Hah, it wasn't that bad, but the ravel of mindless freaks that it's created it can never be forgiven for.
xo
I personally like the horror movies. They seem unique.
E is also for:
Electric Prunes - Too much to dream
Earth wind and fire - Shining star
Eagles - Hotel California
Elvis Costello - Less than zero
Early November - Come Back
Eskimo Joe - From The Sea
D is also for:
Doors - Light my fire
Doors - People are strange
Donovan - Atlantis
And I was wrapped to see you mentioned David Bowie! He is one of my favorites.
I'd say my favorite song is:
David Bowie - Queen Bitch
E is also for The Ex! They're sort of an experimental punk band. Anarchists from the Netherlands, they've made like, twenty albums or something ridiculous like that. They're one of those really influential bands that goes back to forever, the sort of thing everyone we should hear.
D! is mostly for The Dodos, as they have a really special place in my heart right now. They sort of are overshadowed by Fleet Foxes and other more well-known indie folk acts but I love The Dodos most out of all of them.
My other D would be datA. It's um, French electro, pretty much in the vein of Danger and Justice- I think Justice is the much more well-known artist out of all of them? But if you don't like electro music it sucks, ha. INTERESTINGLY, my favorite datA song is 'Rapture' which apparently(?) features Sebastian Grainger on vocals, and Sebastian used to be in another of my favorite D bands, Death From Above 1979. :D
Another interesting D is Dälek, which is this very dark, experimental hiphop. I've dug them for awhile, I saw them open for the Melvins like six years ago or something. Their album "From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots" remains one of my favorites. You don't even need to like any hiphop at all to get into this- it was actually my introduction to the genre. 'Classical Homicide' is epic.
And D is most assuredly for Do Make Say Think (long band name, but really easy to remember- it's just the four basic verbs). They are jazzzzz influenced post-rock band with the best live show I have ever, ever seen. It was seriously a transcendental experience. Their particular brand of post-rock is just incredibly fantastic, and really easy to get into. They just make music together and stuff, haha.
Aaand I kind of overdid D, but whatever. If you are interested in listening to any of that, here you go. God I really hope I didn't screw up that link.
Anyway, I really love the songs and artists you chose today. Particularly Elton John and David Bowie. I may be somewhat partial to British musicians.
Twilight makes vampires a joke, they used to be cool. The movie was kind of so bad its funny. I wanted to laugh when I saw it because it was so terrible.
<3
Have fun and be safe RyRo, where ever you may be.
saw mirrors today it sucked
but your mini from tgg was in it so i was like laughing during the movie
D is for Delibes, the flower duet from Lakmé. I heard it performed live once by soprano and clarinet, and it was just as gorgeous. Also, Django Reinhardt, Shine. Or Duran Duran (Wild Boys was always my favorite).
I've been listening to a lot of Elliott Smith lately, and am loving Ballad of Big Nothing. And Miss Misery.
Twilight scares me, but I still want to see the movie. I halfway expect it to exceed the unintentional hilarity of Tom Cruise's The Last Samurai, which had me *howling* throughout.
Or Empires.
They're both amazing. :D
I can't decide...
And my D is for Dance Gavin Dance. A little bit of screamo is nice now and again. Hehe.
That movie looks pretty great though.
I fucking love him :)
His show in Vegas was amazing <333
Kudos on picking my favorite Elton John song.
E for me is Eels' cover of Get Ur Freak On. Yeah, seriously.
And D is Daft Punk's Digital Love.
and oh my gosh. never apologize for elton. he's a god. tbh, i cry when i listen to certain songs. :|
I can't believe you're almost done with the ABC playlist. I've been really enjoying all these song recs.
- Jen
<3333
E is for:
The Eccentric Opera - "Serenade"
Elton John - "Benny & the Jets" -- Who /doesn't/ love singing this song in karaoke? ;)
Emiliana Torrini - "Unemployed in Summertime -- A summer song for the winter months! Emiliana's voice and music are both amazing.
Empires - ALL OF "HOWL". I can't choose one track. :(
Ezra Furman & The Harpoons - "We Should Fight"
D is for:
Death Cab for Cutie - "Bixie Canyon Bridge" -- I took a roadtrip up the West Coast this summer by myself, from LA to Vancouver, BC, and this song will forever make me think of the day I drove along Big Sur.
The Decemberists - "The Crane Wife 3" -- The folk story is so sad, and the song is beautiful.
Dominic Monaghan & Elijah Wood - "Half Fling" -- Can this be labeled a real song? It's pretty cracktastic.
Dorian Minor - "Butterfly Launch"
Also, E=Empires or Elliot Smith or Explosions in the Sky. Any of those options I approve of.
Also,
Twilight is a failure of a vampire movie, but coincidentally a great comedy.
i love to hate and i hate to love it.
i love to hate her and i hate to love her.
Uhm. E:
There are so, so many people I could rec for E, but I'm keeping it down to one; the act I'm recommending for E is the most important music to me in the world. Even the Beatles come in close second - perhaps because that band lived and died before I was born. The point is, when I had a bucket list, the first bullet point was to see Ezio live. I waited about fifteen years, but I finally did, this September.
It was a religious experience. I was standing in a room full of a bunch of thirty-something Germans and every single one of them was singing every single word to every single song in a set by some modest looking dudes from Cambridge. Pretty much nobody knows these guys outside of Germany and the UK, but the fans they do have are insanely devoted. So yeah, I might have cried for the first ten minutes, in that slow quiet way that's less about being a fan of the music and more about the music being everything you are in that moment.
It's things like this: They sometimes have the audience sing the goddamn harmonica parts. Ezio actually takes song requests mid-concert, through text message on what is presumably his phone. I can feel the things he sings, even though I'm nowhere near 'Thirty and Confused.', and Booga's virtuosic guitar work just kills. If I am having a conversation and Saxon Street comes on, that conversation is over.
I'm not at all objective about them. I mean, I'm objective enough to say I didn't much like the last album, but all the previous albums are kind of my favorite albums ever made. I don't know. If they're not sheer works of staggering genius, they're still what my heart is made of.
I don't really think I can rec anything for 'D' after that. It just seems kind of small.
I'd say they're under-appreciated, but that would be doing a disservice to their fanbase, which is small but also made of so much love. It's kind of to be expected. Back in the day, apparently, Ezio and Booga once played a show for a man and his dog. He'd reserved his ticket thinking they'd be sold out, but he was the only person to show up. So they just sat down with him, took his requests, and played. I think this was when they were starting out, or something. Like, the thing is, it sounds like a legend. Common sense says it must be, just because it's absurd, but I totally wouldn't be at all surprised if it were real. I'm kind of convinced it is. That's just what they are. I wish all their songs were streaming on the internet, so you could give them a try.
In lieu of that, a list of (a tiny fraction of) my favourite Ezio songs:
Cancel Today
Wild Side/Moon (which is a mashup of two favorite songs, found on the live in Cambridge Album)
One More Walk Around the Dancefloor
Perfect (I prefer the live version on the Cambridge album)
Mermaid Song
Back on Your Own Again
Agony
Saxon Street
I don't have a favorite album, but for most people it's 'Black Boots on Latin Feet.' It's not a bad place to start, if you're just looking to try them out. BUY IT. If you don't like it, I can reimburse you and you can send it to me. Never hurts to have an extra copy lying around.
I rely on lack of affect. My habitual dissociation is why I make such a bad fangirl, but a passable human being. If you have any idea how you did it, could you tell me so I can figure out how to do both?
The quickest way to get there is to spend some time on a desert island or a space station. If you're not on a schedule, a succession of transatlantic moves and general upheaval might help. Barring that, go to sleep for a few years and have someone wake you from your least favorite dream.
Man I need new books. I've been rereading Harry Potter but I'm on Deathly Hallows now.
Hopfully I can get to the book store soon, but if I can't then I'll probably reread Haunted.
E: The Eagles-Doolin Dalton
or
Empires-Believe!
OR
The Edgar Winter Group-Free Ride
I'm sucker for old 70's songs. Who isn't?
D:
Death Cab for Cutie-Information Travels Faster
or
Death Cab for Cutie-405
I could offer up so many more Death Cab for Cutie songs, they're definetly one of my favorite bands, but I don't want to bore anyone.
pshhh "e" i actually have serious suggestions for that without thinking!
elliott smith DUHH. there is many a song i love by him. however, to reference back to your vampires or whatever, i shall choose twilight even though elliott's twilight has nothing to do with vampires and anyone that even thinks about those books whilst listening to the song should be ashamed. my hatred for vampires twilight burns with the passion of a thousand burning suns.
twilight- elliott smith
"d" is for decemberists!
red right ankle- the decemberists
i am legit falling asleep over here even though it's not even 10:30 so TEE TEE EFF EN.
ill agree with you that twilight sucked! lol but the book is alright.
but i got one for E...Escape the Fate! :D <33
peace ryan, haha love you
Elton John, Elvis Presley AND David Bowie are all awesome choices.
Anyway, E is for...
Eminem (yeah, I went there). I don't know if I can only choose one song... hmm. I'll go with "Mockingbird". Note: I only like his more 'serious' songs. The rest is ehh.
The Exies, "Normal". Good song.
Also, Elliott Smith. I'd say I was surprised that you didn't choose Elliott Smith, but that would be like pretending I really know you, which I don't. xD So, "Say Yes" and "Everything Reminds Me of Her" are amazing songs, check them out if you don't know them.
Oh, and Eisley, "Telescope Eyes" is a very, very good song, as well.
For D, I have...
The Dresden Dolls, "Coin-Operated Boy"
"Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas (either the acoustic or the remix) has always been one of my favourites.
I really can't only pick one song from Death Cab For Cutie.
And Damien Rice, "9 Crimes" is a beautiful song.
PS: that movie looks ill. I love film festivals.
Dar Williams, one of the stars of the folk circuit http://www.seeqpod.com/search/?plid=b7da1a013c
Are You Out There? a song pretty much everyone who had even a moment of not belonging can identify with
The Christians and the Pagans my favourite secular Christmas song
When I Was A Boy about growing up and the expectations that the world places on you.
If you can find it I also recommend "You're Aging Well" about changing what it means to grow up, to be "normal", to be strong.
The other D is one of the most unsung performers I know of , Danny Michel. you ask most of the singer-songwriters in Ontario and they'll probably have heard of him but he's never caught on with the mainstream.
I can't find anything other than cuts from his album of Bowie covers online so here's his myspace where he's got tracks up from his latest offering, Feather, Fur and Fin http://profile.myspace.com/dannymichel
Man, I am a BIG David Bowie fan. that actually happens to be one of my favorites, I also like Starman. I think waht I like about those songs is the way he's able to make it sound like story telling. Also Starman is a little scifi and like that.
... and the actors acted like they had sticks shoved up certain body parts...
...
okay, movie sucked. books rock.
but that movie looks a bit too much on the horror side for me.
i can't even watch the grudge without freaking out to the point i have to have a light on when i sleep.
andways.
E -
Every Avenue (they live not to far from me)
D-
Death Cab for Cutie (duh)
Dresden Dolls (which I do have to give you guys credit for)
that video clip made me think totally otherwise.
what do you think the possibility is of blockbuster having it?
:|
Great choices of songs. They're all good!
D: Don McLean - American Pie
and Death Cab for Cutie - Brothers on a Hotel Bed/ I will follow you into the Dark.
Not really any other E's i would chose that I can think of right now... =D
anyways.....Dion. GREAT group.
I want to watch it now.
Where can I see it.
Anywhere in the Bay Area? No, anywhere in San Francisco?
If only I understood what they were saying.
Well back to the music.
Great songs.
Like always.
There has to be a reason you make some of my favorite songs.
It's because you listen to good music.
Well Peace Mr.Ross.
I hated the books and I hate the movie
and THAT
is one of the best vampire movies I have ever seen!
E: Eisley.
D: Death Cab For Cutie
Maybe... The Doors?
ok, Twilight should be ashamed of itself.
even I only watched Twilight 1 time in my life ;)
and there is never a reason to apologize for Elton John.
but Elvis Presley... ehh...
:)
e is for elmo
lol
badddly
seriously sparkling vampires?!
I never got to see 'let the right one in' but I will watch it.
IWAV will always be one of my fave vampire movies.
[I wish Laurrel K. Hamlton's books should be made into movies.. they'd prob be adult ones tho.. I don't know if I spelled her name right but check her shit out it's good]
Elvis.. nice, a classic
Elton, I love his music [thank you Lion King when I was a wee little one]
o.0 'the wanderer' Ross seriously? it's the male slut song.
[are you trying to tell us something? kidding]
Bowie...I'm sorry I love his lyrics but I hate that mans voice fuck! he just pisses me off.
seems like my kind of movie
i myself happen to be a vampire:)
E is always for Elvis! My mom, grandma, and I all have crushes on him, posthumous though they may be. I like to think we just have great taste.
elton john(: i do love him, and many others, don't apologize.
The Early November (they were awesome)
Dashboard Confessional.
E is for umm...*consults iTunes* The Easybeats - Friday on my Mind
aaaand
D is for...Danny Elfman - Jack's Lament (Nightmare Before Christmas)...does that count? No?
ok...The Dresden Dolls - Coin Operated Boy XD
And since you said it's the best, I'm going to watch it. I'm sure ANY vampire movie is better than Twilight these days. Seriously, I'm ashamed for ever buying those books with all my birthday money. Ack.
I feel blues'y today so,
E is for Etta James - A Sunday Kind of Love && Etta James - At Last.
And D is for Dinah Washington - This Bitter Earth. Inevitably "ouch".
Also also David Bowie is the man. He's one of my favorite singers hands down along with Elvis Costello (another great E musician) and Freddy Mercury.
D is also for the Damned, Danger, Danzig, Depeche Mode!!!!!, The Dead Kennedys, Death from above 1979, Descendents, Devo, Dick Dale, and the Doors
E is for Erasure, ELO, Edith Piaf, and Ella Fitzgerald.
I don't know how you can break this all down to one or two bands per letter.
:]
nice choices. man.
My favorite Elvis song is "I'm so lonesome I could cry"
He's just another reason I wish I was around in the '50s.
I also share a birthday with him & David Bowie, which is pretty wicked.
My E is the Eagles - Hotel California (Acoustic), from the Hell Freezes Over album. It is absolutely the best acoustic guitar song I have ever heard. A little bit Spanish, a little bit folk rock. I love it when an artist takes one of their well-known songs and puts an entirely new spin on it. I don't even have to mention "Hotel California" as one of my homesickness antidotes. The song has become emblemmatic of everything that modern California represents. The University of California Alumni magazine even did an article about the international significance of the song. However, it is the acoustic version that I play to lift my mood and calm my spirit, as only acoustic guitar can do, sometimes.
The Eagles are also hands-down the masters of electric guitar. "Life in the Fast Lane" is perhaps the hardest rocking song ever written. Each member shows off his virtuoso skill in that one song.
"They went up and down that highway
Messed around and got lost.
They didn't know
They were just trying to get off.
Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Everything, all the time.
My D is Doobie Brothers, the definition of the classic 70's rock sound. When you think of songs from that era, you think of a Doobie Brother's song, even if you don't even know it's them. I was surprised to learn that Michael MacDonald's most famous songs were all recorded while he was still in the Doobie Brothers.
What a Fool Believes
Listen to the Music
Black Water (my favorite)
China Grove
Evil Woman
Jesus is Just All Right (whoa yeah)
Long Train Runnin'
Rio
Takin' It To the Streets
Minute by Minute
The Doobie Brothers dominated a period of the early seventies with quintessential classics.
"And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world"
You can see the live performance at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d9P26fvVpw
but you might want to find better sound quality.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76s69UyR9-w
Okay, I'm done.
i was just reading comments, and i saw the name virginia, so i was all confused because i thought i didnt post a comment on here, because my name;s virginia too.
i thought i was the only young person with that name. haha.
do people call you virgina? (a horrible combination between your name and a body part)
Next, some advise:
A) "E is also for Elton John. Sorry." NEVER, NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR LOVING ELTON JOHN SONGS--EVER!
B) Also, F is for The Fireman. This album came out a few months ago, another Paul McCartney project, and this song in particular blows me away. Who knew someone in their 60’s could still sing like this?
ALWAYS REMEMBER: YOU AREN'T GETTING OLDER--YOU'RE GETTING BETTER!!! BELIEVE ME, IT'S TRUTH....
Peace!
http://curseofmarjorie.blogspot.com/
Well today fucking sucks and it's FOB's fault...
They made me lose my best friend...
That would be like you losing Spencer...
It hurts...
Bad...
I.
Don't.
Like.
It.
E is for Eraserheads. (A Filipino band / OPM) xDD
E is for the Easybeats my friend.
Friday on my mind.
Anyway, sorry too lazy to translate that. Could i suggest Bob Dylan_Mr Tambourine Man? =)
"Hey Mr Tambourine man play a song for me i'm not sleepy and there is no place i'm going to..."
Bonne journée!
Le bécot
Where was I when they gave out the lucky tickets? I'll never be a star to anyone.
I guess people watch that movie cause of Robert Pattison is good looking =S who knows anyways that movie you reccomend is a little creepy well i guess i'm just saying that cause i hate scary/horror movies they give me the creeps! i can't sleep for daysss or even weeks after watching one. Crazy But True I guess i am kinda weird for not liking it =)
dude that movie looks awesome. i wanna see it. also, im sad that the musical abcs thing is almost finished :(
I hope you continue posting when you finish the "playlist" (:
Kisses Ry!
That fad is ridiculous. The writing sucks.
Good choices, David Bowie is the shit. <3
I have to start with Evanescence. They have tons of great songs, but I must say my favorite ones are those wich aren't singles and aren't even in their most famous albums. Such as:
Missing
Hello
October
Anywhere
Breathe No More
Field Of Innocence
then, E would be for Enya -Far and Away
for D.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
Dido - All You Want
Damien Rice - 9 Crimes or The Blower's Daughter
But I have one to add for D.
The Decemberists.
Anything by them really, but I especially like anything off of 'The Crane Wife'
(:
Once again, thank you Ryan Ross for sharing your musical expertise.
Hmmm. D's....
THE DOORS- Break on Through (to the other side)
Ehh, and the Twilight movie was lacking... but the books were pretty good. Not my favorite but still. Okay, I am happy now iTunes is on shuffle and Nine is thw Afternoon just came on. :D
good songs Ryan :) yeah .. every song is amazing ;)
btw I like Twilight very much.. =)
I'm too sick to go to get my ipod list to see my artists...... So I can't put much input...sorry...
I don't hate Twilight, but I don't love it too, and I don't understand why people are so crazy about it. I consider that book/movie a love story, more than a vampire one. Yes, it has vampires, and the plot is supposed to be, at least in the first book, a vampire-werewolf fight; but Stephanie Meyer uses lots of pages to describe the Edward/Bella/Jacob relation, more than it's necessary. Honestly, I've read vampire books better than Twilight.
Back to the music my choses are:
Elvis, I was thinking about him before you posted, but I don't know what song pick;
Elton John, as I said before... Candle in the wind, Nikita, Sacrifice;
The Eagles, I love Hotel California
Dido -Here with me
Dixie Chicks- I'm not ready to make nice
Eric Clapton - Tears in heaven is just beautiful
... and I wanted to choose bob Dylan as well [you know, I used to pick the capital letter from the last name] but I get into a muddle because now I'm also choosing the rec's by the first name.
Edit: Playlist- http://www.seeqpod.com/search/?plid=00344e3846
Finally I put Dylan's Blowing in the wind and Nothing was delivered [with The Band].
On a less scared-out-of-my-mind note: nice choices for music as usual! I need to start downloading all of this to make it into an epic playlist!
The Books i think are amazing... The film was shite.
if you've watched the movie and not read the books... do so... the movie misses out many of the vital parts.
But anyway...
a good list of yet some more Amazingly talented Musical Legends.
: )
x
And Twilight should be ashamed of itself with or without that movie on the market.
Have you read the book? It's amazing, but the movie just sucks.
And someone compared it with Harry Potter!
Can't believe it...
David Bowie, I just love that man. He never gets old, in every single way...
Elton John... He played here a couple of days ago, along with James Blunt.
I couldn't get to see them. The ticket was too expensive.
But my brother saw him coming out of the hotel, he works as a doorman in a hotel that's across the street...
That was awesome =)
bye!
"Not knowing you've changed for just one bite..."
haha that movie is creepy. oh i wanna see twilight thought. but i don't think twilight is a vampire movie, even if they are vampires. idk
does the new yellow-red shirt say: "...northern downpour sends it's love" or "..sends its love"? you can't see it really on the pic..looks like "it's" but idk..don't hope so :P
Elton! I just knew you'd have him for an E, if you didn't I would have been utterly shocked.
David Bowie :)
Dion, sounds quite good. I like the song choices, as per usual you do not lack at choosing awesome songs.
That movie looks awesome :) I am a sucker for horrors and scary things. I do not really want to watch Twilight, I've seen so many vampire movies that are probably better. But yeah, also I don't want to be sucked into that vortex. I bet I'm going to have fangirls bash me now, well yeah. I am not a massive Twilight fan, but I'm not saying all of you are morons -- you like what you like and I like what I like.
But anyway, once again you have filled my itunes with more great songs, thanks Ryan.
Stay rocking,
Charlotte.
I check this like, ALOT and it wasn't here 12 hours ago...
I'm upset.
But I still love Ryan's choice of songs, even if they are old, they are still classic.
=D
I guess I can forgive you for being a little slow though.
anyway, it was brilliant. Makes me want to speak Swedish.
Apparently she's my great aunt... but shes somewhat famous which I thought was kind of cool
there's no artist/band begins with E in my playlist, lol.
for D, mine, will be Disney-The Lion King soundtrack 'I just can't wait to be king'
wait, that doesnt count. fail. sorry.
STEALTH AWESOMENESS: IT EXISTS!
That movie is good, the best thing is, it isn't even about vampires! It's about bullying and feeling outside and how to deal with it but with the gore of vampires.
:D
they really scare me.
I'm one of those people, that only love "happy" movies.
so.. eehmm I haven't seen twilight.
never read the book, too.
can't jude if it's a good or a bad movie. I can only tell u that all my friends are loving it.
whatever.
nice songs.
D is for Deichkind.. it's a german band.
i love them XD
check them out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3cLKC6tfGg
;D
i thought you of all people would suggest them! sheesh ryan, you let me down.
ooh, that movie looks goood. i like the "innocent scariness" of it. it's hard to explain what i mean, but these movies make me feel real terrified on the inside.
I like Twilight.
The movie in is shit in comparison to the book.
I have Vampire problems.
Since before Twilight.
Since before...xD
For D
Daft Punk.
fucking amazing.
xD
I will def. want to see this movie. very good trailer.
have a good day!
COMING TO GREECE SOON FOR A VISIT?!
a classic.
yes, i bet NOBODY head of them but listen to the instrumental song WELCOME, GHOSTS.
it's the best way to go to sleep, apart the song title if you think of it haha.
i love it.
give it a try!!
it must to be a good terror movie!
my sugestion is
Emile Autumn - Marry Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8Szt6F7K20&feat...
I watched that movie at the end of last year and i can safely say it's one of the best vampire movies i've seen.
Hardly anyone has seen it with it being swedish, they're all seriously losing out
It would be awesome to pick your brains about it.
i have no music suggestions, i'm too busy running through that movie in my head again
Good sogs...I prefere Elvis Presley than Elton John
Ryan...pliss come to Mexico...we really want to see you here...!!
You have a great fanbase here...
So...you're comiing?? Pliiis??!
E....IS FOR:
EDITORS
EVANESCENCE
ELLIOT MINOR
D...IS DOR:
DISTURBED
DAUGHTRY
=]
D is also for The Decemberists!
good song choices (:
Yay!
E is for Elvis Presley, too.
D is for.. oh god, I feel so music-less. I'd love to listen more stuff of David Bowie. Maybe D is for Dream Theater - "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory" (complete disc - concept album, though).
Can't wait for C and B.
I don't care if you're predictable, you must choose that band for B. ^^
And I have bands for C too! makes me happy.
E...Elvis Presley. Elliot Minor. Evanescence.
D...? The Doors.
xoxoxo
i really want to see this one.
i love foreign films.
they're so much more innovative than our films for the most part.
I mean...this movie...is weird.
And wanna watch foreign movies?
Enjoy, darling!
Movies made in our country: war, rape, murder and other crimes, torture.
No, I'm not from Iraq.
Just...in our country...little beautiful country in Europe...it's just that terrible taste.
MB
I know they're Twilight and PATD fans...and they're telling lies. -.-'
My favourite Bowie song will forever be Life On Mars, it's just so creepy.
My suggestion for a band is Dirty Pretty Things. I don't know if you listened to The Libertines (bestbandeverfyi) but this is one of the frontmen's separate project. They split up last December, but they were really very good.
Try Bang, Bang You're Dead, Deadwood and Gin And Milk.
my E is for ED HARCOURT - BLACK DRESS
my D is for DINOSAUR JR - MIND GLOW
enjoy
x.
p.s you realise loads of people are now going to say they don't like Twilight just because of what you wrote about it. haha.
Death Cab for Cutie - Tiny Vessels (So sad but so beautiful)
Do you now anything with C yet? I tried to think about something starting with C, but that's difficult like finding bands or singers starting with X ...
I knew there was a reason I liked you, Mr. Ross. xD
Awesome choices in music. :]
As for 'A', DEFINITELY Aerosmith!
E is for... Enrique Iglesias xD well i like his accent...
D is for... really i don't remember any band... ^.^
and A is for AMÉN... is a peruvian band!! :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQVBAuK7CgU
Here's my choices for C and B.
Smile For the Paparazzi- Cobra Starship
You Fucked Up My Life- Blink 182
Half a Life- Bayside
Dance Hall Drug- Boys Like Girls
wait no, that's billy joel...
either way, some great picks for E :)
it's a fabulous letter, i must admit
BUT... bite your tongue about Twilight, the BOOKS are amazing.
E is for....ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA! "Mr. Blue Sky" is the best song ever.
E is also for Elliot Smith and Explosions in the Sky. That band is proof you don't need any lyrics for good music. Hah.
D is most definitly for David Bowie.
It is also for Devotchka. I hope one of you sees this and can look them up. Please consider the song "How it ends." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbZM6ZSlvvY
Dredge, Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, and the Deftones are also good "D's".
both the books and the movie
I mean, it's all my friends talk about, and it's getting on my nerves -_- I mean, it's not even that good! haha
So yea anywayz, this other vampire movie looks pretty cool, I have to admit
And I love that Elvis song <3 It's amazing! So is Elton John
nice choice :]
Anything beats Twilight.
...I have to admit, I used to like Twilight (the books), until Breaking Dawn. BD ticked me off so much, and the happy ending ruined it entirely for me. But then again, by that time I was kinda hoping Bella or Edward would die--
ANYWAY, the movie sucked. The End
-face palm-
E is for Erin McCarly
Love, Save The Empty - Erin McCarly
Pony (It's OK) - Erin McCarly
Now to the music: Elvis is good, I like some of his songs... but Elton John I love... very cool. I prefer "That's Why They Call It The Blues" That song is fantastic!
What a bad movie.
I lost that money u_u
That movie, on the other side, looks amazing.
I'll see if I can get it here... somewhere...
<.< >.>
Elton John is giving a concert tomorrow here in Bogotá.
Sweet. =D

"A Boy Like Me."
That man is amazing.

i like the twilight series
and i'm not ashamed to say it
I just posted a funny Twilight spoof video on my blog. Go watch it.(Just click on my name).
And Twilight sucked--ha ha, actually it didn't, which is part of the problem.
Ok that's lame but it was mildly entertaining! Anyways, my friend told me you(Ryan) got in a plane crash today. She was trying to stump me with a joke, but I think I beat her to the punch line so she changed it.
(her-Guess who's alive?
me-Steve Irwin....'s daughter
her- No. Ryan Ross. His plane crashed.)
So I believed you were in a plane crash for a total of about 20 minutes before she said she was lying and wanted to see how far that could go. Just a random bit of information! Oh and I'm glad your fictional plane didn't fictionally crash!
-tess hall
the edward in my head doesn't have a nose. robert whatshisface has a nose. epic fail.

thanks thanks thanks thanks A LOT
Elvis Costello & Paul McCartney - One After 909 although I really like Costello covering 'Is She Really Going Out With Him', because it's the boy-bitchiest song ever.
David Gray - Please Forgive Me: folk music with synth sensibilities.
David Wilcox - Down Here: loveliest of all songs about inclusion among freaks, and reaching out to the mainstream. I can only find the lyrics, though. :(
but speaking of vampires... isnt california a little too sunny?

CHECK US OUT<33
And he came with James Blunt as his support artist...
As for D, it'd be great if you included Duran Duran, with Electric Barbarella or Ordinary World. Oh, and also Depeche Mode. They're epic!
I was really suprised by you recomending a swedish movie, but hey, John Ajvide is a really good author, and those kids are good actors so yeah its a good movie..
Take care
E is also for Emilie Autumn.

compared to twilight(:
twilight truly isn't that great.
i read the first book and saw the movie.
I was like oh my shit i can't take anymore
of twilight it is so annoying.
He'll get a kick out of this - he doesn't believe that people in GenY, Millennials, or whatever you want to call us, listen to him anymore. We are "before his time"...
If you don't know who he is, his most popular song (I think) was "Runaround Sue". He also did "Teenager In Love". Listen to it, you probably know it!
but we all have our opinions.
And I love that Elton John song. Actually, Elton John in general. And David Bowie. <3
I saw the third underworld the other day and deemed it my best vampire movie to date but i think after this im unsure...... very unsure....... i like everything so .... its one of my flaws... leads to indecision..... *confused*
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Jerusalem
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Lucky Man
<3
Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream. It takes a few listens but it really is a very good song. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ats71c
D-
Casey Donovan - Nothing Else Matters. This chick won Australian Idol when she was 16 but didn't really go anywhere with it. She did however do this version of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters and it is really, really beautiful. http://www.sendspace.com/file/i8un1d
Cold play- yellow
Cobra Starship- the city is at war
The Cab- bounce!
Counting crows- ghost in you (or round here)

Go to POland. There are a lot of fans of Panic.. Really.. please...
Anyways, never saw the vampire movie you were
talking about but I did see twilight and its pretty terrible.
:p
but I am disapointed,
you of all people should know
H is definitly and for sure for "Hound dog taylor" FTW!
Movie looks good, It wouldn't be on video yet I suppose. Or maybe it is, I'll have to check it out.
My D is.... Death Cab for Cutie
and For E, I enjoyed the soundtrack for Into the Wild a bit too much, So I'll go with Eddie Vedder.
I love foreign films.
And BOWIE is a legend. My best friend bought me his Best Of for my birthday, we have a running debate over who is better, him or Freddie Mercury.
Dr. John and the Medicine Show - "Right Place, Wrong Time" (I just realized that a lot of these were songs I liked when I was very young, songs I heard around the house as a child.)
Earth, Wind, and Fire
"Shining Star" (perfect vocals)
"Reasons"
"Kalimba Story" (I do know another song with a kalimba in it! I forgot about this!)
"Sing a Song"
"That's the Way of the World"
"Head to the Sky" (this song will make your dog deaf, trust me)
"Getaway"
"Devotion"
Philip Bailey returns in another letter (and it's not "B"!)
"You're a shining star, no matter who you are
Shining bright to see what you can truly be"
this might seem very scary fan girlish but i don't think there is any other place to do this..
thank you.
thank you ryan, thank you spencer, than you brendon and thank you jon.
i owe you guys more than it is imaginable.
my life even.
you honestly mean the world to me.
thank you so so much.
x
When you're done with this music-alphabet-list you should make one with authors/books too.
Other things for Sweden to be proud of:
Benny Andersson and Björn Ulveus. The creators of ABBA, Chess and Kristina från Duvemåla. (The last one is THE best musical of all time. I'll link a few songs in the comments for B as soon as I've had time to translate the lyrics.)
And also for EVA CASSIDY, becuase her voice is just like hot chocolate on a cold winter's day
Penny to My Name
Fields of Gold
And DOLLY PARTON gets a D. Especially for this:
Sandy's Song
he just says scream! scream! But okay, squeal like a pig. I haven't seen it yet, maybe I should. Sweden can when we want to, I don't like Swedish movies otherwise.
Milord- Edith Piaf
La Vie en Rose- Edith Piaf
"D"
Vincent- Don Mclean
I must say that vampire movie is to trippy.
Twilight was an awful film in the first place, director changed it too much, undeserving hype, and not to mention BAD ACTING.
The books were alright but the second one: New Moon, was absolutely terrible.
E is also for Explosions in the Sky.
And F for Fleet Foxes.
The Eagles - "New Kid in Town"
I'm a sucker for them though.
and
Derek & the Dominoes - "Bell Bottom Blues"
"Jesus was a Crossmaker" - Rachael Yamagata
"River Road" - Nancy Wilson seems like it says so much without words.
"Words" - Ryan Adams
The whole movie itself is good though, and if you haven't seen it, you'd better. And that goes for everyone haha. My eyes still tear up everytime I watch it.
Also Let the Right One In <3
You always know a good movie when you forget that it isn't in English. I ALWAYS forget that Pans Labyrinth is in Spanish, it's just so good that it just isn't a defining factor.
then...my name is elisa...and vampire's name is eli...coincidence?
i don't know...but is true love...
good choice ryan...this movie is awesome!!
wasn't that a good story? I HOPE Y'ALL GOT YOUR FLU SHOTS. it's no fun!
BUT ABSOLUTELY HATE THE MOVIE!!
IT IS SO OVER FREAKING RATED!!!!
She has that cd. =)
She also has a big collection of David Bowie, I love Space Oddity =3
xD I don't wanna be anoying but I also have an Elvis cd xD (this one is mine not my mom's) and I love it x3
its all about the full length movies.
now go watch it.

Twilight should be ashamed.I have heard from so many people that it was horrible...But just seeing that video above made me realize what a real vampire movie is supposed to be like.
I printed the lyrics for 'Pretty Things' out tonight for a photo story. Such a damn fine song.
Elvis, Elton, Dion. More classics. I like your brain.
"Oh, you pretty things, don't you know, you're driving your mommas and papas insane" never a truer lyric written from where I'm sitting...
btw, i saw earlier that ur low on milk, so u should run to the store before u run out. i'll b in the produce department waitin 4 u!! Clean ur window though, it's gettin super hard 2 c ur bedroom!!
JK JK JK JK JK!! not that obssesive.
Anyway, keep blogging....
im a little addicted to this song right now
p.s twilight rocks thank you very much :D
ive been to his house a few times
oh,and elton john is great too
but yea,i wanted to say that i seen a video on youtube of your guys performance in Estero,FL and i must say,Brendon upset me and my friend Courtney,.,i hate seeing him so drunk that he can't even walk...idk but we got really upset about that and we were hoping that he would stop consuming that much alchohol onstage...i mean,i know he has the tight to drink, but hes kinda taking advantage of drinking and going a little far with it,i look up to you guys and Brendon and thats not showing very good role modeling because you guys have alot of younger fans, like me,im 13, but yea.i still love Brendon though ;]
i watched this today...
my mother and I found a dvd store that had this.
& tbh it is actually really good :]
D is also for The Doors (Riders on the storm, Break on through, The end)
Depeche Mode (Enjoy the silence)
Dandy Warholes (Sleep)
E is also for The Eagles (Hotel California)
I could go on about Dire Straits, Deep Purple and Eve 6 but I'll leave it at this.
IT'S A HORRIFIC AND STUPID SERIES AND I GOT PAID TO READ IT.
It was terrible. TERRIBLE. :|
It shouldn't be compared to famous Sci-Fi's! it's just so... AWFUL. jfc!
Meyer's attempt to incorporate Anne Rice's vampires into her books was a terrible failure.
Come on, seriously? It's just a sick lust filled story. No character development whatsoever! God. I swear, if I was talking irl I could bad mouth anything Twilight related for HOURS.
see quarantine, THAT's a scary movie -make sure to wear diapers-
and spencer slipped in it?
i need to watch
though twilight never had anything to be ashamed of.
it was always a disgraceful movie and book (my opinion!) don't eat me twilight fans, i taste bad
I'm from Sweden and saw it a few moths ago.
I haven't read that exactly book but I 've read other stuff from the aurthor and he is really good.
haha , the mention of Twilgiht sure made people react didn't it?
By the way, David Bowie was a great choice, i have loved him since Labyrinth, classic!

i used to be twilight BIGGEST fan i swear to god but thennnn i figured i would do some reasarch on the band that wrote nine in the afternoon. yeah, you guys! and so i did reasarch and i still loved twilight and then i looked at pics of you all and fell in love with your face ryan <3 and this is when i did reasarch on YOU! eeeeeeek! and then this is when i ttly forgot about edward and jacob and bella, whom i always hated, and i realized that music was my life and withought listening to your voice at least once a day. oh, im straying. well i used to love twilight and then i loved ryro. who doesnt? well the let the right one in movie looks good. i like creepy crawly blood and guts stuff. i always wondered if you did to. well at least you like vampires! i love vampires.
